Why does my ps4 stop downloads in rest mode

 · I used the Rest Mode to increase my download. My download kept stopping because my internet connection was dropping for say 30 seconds, I kept having to resume the damn download. Also, if your downloading something and watching something on Twitch itwill increase the time needed from like 3 hours to 9 hours or more%(38).  · updates won't download until the disc is done installing and discs don't install in rest mode so the disc likely isn't fully installed yet and every time it goes in to rest mode it's stopping the Operating System: PS4. Another potential issue may be your router powering down, but my first guess is that you are not waiting long enough in rest mode. Also, based on your PSN ID you're from UK, so the update time will be different than the EST one.

It is very important to configure the right settings on your PS4 though so it can still download when in rest mode. Here are the steps to do this: Go to Settings on your PS4 menu. Go to Power Save settings. Go to Set Functions Available in Rest Mode. Make sure the Download Files/Remain Connected to Internet box is ticked. Rest Mode is one of the handiest features of the PlayStation 4. Instead of powering down completely, your console just goes into a low-power sleep mode (like your laptop does when it hibernates). This means that it's quicker to start up, can charge the controller, and best of all, can download updates and games from the PlayStation 4. Downloads seem to go slower unless in rest mode or if you have everything closed and just the download status open. When I started to download First Light it said 4 hours, I just clicked on the download to show the download status bar and it jumped up to 47 minutes. The PS4 throttles your connection for sure.

While in Rest Mode, your console isn’t having to use resources running other programs, so it can put full support into downloading whatever you have in the pipeline. Another potential issue may be your router powering down, but my first guess is that you are not waiting long enough in rest mode. Also, based on your PSN ID you're from UK, so the update time will be different than the EST one. That's because the console has to be on to copy the data from the disc -- rest mode doesn't do that. Rest mode puts the console in a low power state to use USB and ethernet -- it doesn't spin the disc at full speed to copy the data to the HDD. /smfh. 6. Continue this thread.
